The Old Luckett’s Store in Leesburg, Virginia is the closest thing I’ve found to an amusement park for antique lovers. Started by two women who took a chance on a decrepit abandoned building in 1996, the shop constantly has new finds from estate sales, auctions and more than 35 dealers. I’ve been three times and each time the trip is more exciting.
The massive antique store hosts monthly flea markets (I caught the October 3-5 weekend by a happy coincidence), workshops on DIY furniture refinishing, painting and gilding, and a Design House, which is a historic home on the property that is remodeled each month to display beautiful interior design trends where everything is available to purchase. The property also has a cafe, garden store and jewelry shop.
